George M. Yellich, DDS, MS
Meet Oral Surgeon Dr. Yellich
Dr. Yellich received his undergraduate and pre-dental education at Eastern Michigan University, Michigan. He received his DDS degree from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry, and he completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center. In addition, he attained a Master’s Degree (MS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) and he completed the required didactical and clinical research aspects of this program. Dr. Yellich also served in the United States Navy, Dental Corps, and retired as a commander.
While in his residency, he was a clinical instructor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry, from June of 1974 through September of 1977.
Dr. Yellich was awarded a research grant to investigate the muscles of mastication and their influence on relapse following orthognathic surgery. This research was completed as a Thesis and has been published in numerous publications. He also presented this Thesis at the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons’ Annual Meeting and also at the American Association of Dental Research Meeting. Dr. Yellich received the Award of Special Merit from the American Association of Orthodontics for his research endeavors.
Dr. Yellich is a member of several organizations associated with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, two of which he is past President: 1) Chalmer’s Lyons Academy at the University of Michigan and 2) Northern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an adjunct professor for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan and the University of California, San Francisco. He served on the Advisory Committee for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons for six years and was given the Advisory Committee Award in 1997.
Dr. Yellich has lectured extensively on various topics of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery throughout his career. Additionally, Dr. Yellich was televised on a special program on KSBW-TV, “Series on Orthognathic Surgery”, as well as the “A.M. San Francisco” talk show in which he presented a panel of his patients and discussed the successful results of the orthognathic surgery he performed on them. He has traveled extensively to various surgical centers to study and enhance his surgical techniques and has attended numerous continuing education courses ensuring his proficiency in the advancements in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Yellich is in private practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Monterey, California. He is currently specializing in maxillofacial reconstructive surgery and dental implantology. Dr. Yellich also founded a non-profit dental clinic in Marina, California, called Dentistry4Vets ( dentistry4vets.org ) which provides dental care and dental hygiene to military veterans in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties.
